Was founded in 1977 with a starting capital of 5 million yen.  In February of 1989, the company became a subsidiary of Bandai Co., Ltd. and renamed Banpresto Co., Ltd.  The company originally was in the amusement machine business, but consolidated in April of 2008 into Namco Bandai Games Inc. and started making video game software as well.
