There seems to be some issues coming up with the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2.
A small, but annoying, issue arose yesterday when players started to notice that they were not getting awarded trophies for their multiplayer achievements. Turns out, there was an issue with a pre-launch patch that disabled the unlockable incentives in Modern Warfare 2. To solve the problem, another patch has just been released enabling the trophy system to work as intended.
But, here comes more trouble. Since the second patch was released, players are not able to get into any of the multiplayer servers. It seemed, at first, that the latest patch killed multiplayer for Modern Warfare 2. But, following updates on Robert Bowling’s Twitter page, it seems that the patch didn’t cause the problem, it was overloaded servers. “Xbox Live servers are maintained and ran by Microsoft. PSN servers are ran and maintained by 3rd party companies hired to do so”, said Bowling. Hmmmm, point scored for Xbox Live?
So, it seems the wait is on for more servers and bandwidth to become available. Perfect time to finish up that pesky single-player mode! If you are sitting and waiting for the servers to come back up, you can check out Joystiq for up-to-the-minute udpates.
Also, there have been many complaints about the missing party chat feature. Rumor has it there might be a patch to fix that on Friday. Question is, will players need to patch that patch to play the game???
UPDATE: Looks like servers are slowly coming back up. Some players might still experience some issues, but overall people should be back to killing their friends in no time. Europe will receive the trophy patch tonight.
