Eidos and developer Backbone have announced they will be bringing Gauntlet to the DS later this year.  Eidos has been quoted as calling the upcoming title a "modern reworking" of the classic arcade game.

On the DS version of Gauntlet, there will be about 40 maps that will span 3 different areas.  Also, the Elf, Warrior, Wizard, and Valkyrie will also be reunited.  And for those of you that like co-op, the latest version will have ranked 4-player co-op and competative multiplayer modes, both playable wirelessly and over Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection.
