Details are starting to surface about some of the new features the iPhone fanbase can come to expect out of the next iPhone OS.
According to Gizmodo and their sources, here are some features that are to be expected in the next iPhone OS:
- multi-touch gestures OS wide
- ability to run applications in the background (mulitasking!)
- UI and graphical changes to make navigating the OS easier and more efficient to use
- update will supposedly only be available for the 3G and 3GS, although I would speculate possibly this OS version will be on the next iPhone to be released
- a brand new syncing ability for calendars and contacts
More details will hopefully be released during the big Apple announcements coming January 27th.
