Recently, the internet has been in a frenzy about the trailer released for the latest zombie game called Dead Island. If you’ve seen or heard about the trailer, you know just how intense and emotional it was. Zombie children attacking parents, people dying horribly, and a lot of gruesome zombies.
So when people heard that the ESRB was cracking down on Dead Island, most people assumed it was because of the violent content. Nope, it’s because of the logo. Apparently, the ESRB took offense to the hanging corpse that makes up the letter “i” in the logo. Since we don’t like to offend the dead here in the U.S., the logo on the North American box had to be changed. But, if you go over and look at the official Dead Island website, the logo is still proudly displayed on the front page. Strange that we censor a logo on a incredibly violent game but make no mention of the content, wouldn’t you say? I don’t even think we comprehend our own censorship sometimes in this country! Thoughts?
Dead Island will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC some time in 2011.
