There’s a lot of issues going on in our little world today. Financial difficulties in many parts of the world, occupy protests, and problems finding jobs just to name a few. We were feeling the crunch for the last few months trying to make sure we had enough money to pay for our wedding, going without buying any new games, clothes, or extras for half a year. Since that has passed, now I’m stuck with petty first world problems. Like trying to decide if I want to spend my time playing Skyrim or Saints Row 3.
Skyrim can suck away lots of time. Newlyweds wasting a whole weekend just to play Skyrim and I haven’t even made a dent in the game. I can spend what seems like hours playing and get almost nothing accomplished because I get so easily sidetracked. There’s just so much to see and do! I seem to be wasting a lot of time gathering things for alchemy and smithing, but it’s so fun to catch fish, butterflies, bees, and other things you can find in the world of Skyrim. And there’s new animals that you can track down and hunt too, but they always seem to be hunting me. I love almost getting to my destination all the way across the map, just to be stricken down by a Saber Tooth when I get there.
Which reminds me of the Elder Scrolls golden rule: save and save often. Because you never know when you are going to have a retarded death, fall down a mountain, have your companion die, get stuck in some crack in the map, or get owned by some random crazed animal. All have happened to me within the first few hours of gameplay.
Now, I did manage to set aside an hour or so to start Saints Row yesterday. And although I didn’t get very far (mainly because I had to enter in 20 freaking game codes just to play the game), I already can tell you that Johnny Gat never disappoints. Verrryyyy entertaining intro. And I’m always amazed at how much smoother each Saints Row game looks. Everything just seems so much less pixelated and boxy. And speaking of first world problems, it kinda seems like the Saints have a lot of them these days. Not the poor gang that once was.
But, like I said, I couldn’t get very far into the game because Skyrim was still calling my name. Maybe over the Thanksgiving break I’ll have time to sit im my pajammies and play both games until my fingers bleed. Now if I could just figure out how to make my job take up less of my time….but that’s just my lame first world problems. I really shouldn’t complain at all though. In this economy, I’m just glad I have a job!
