It’s time to tighten that belt a little tighter. Microsoft just announced that the price for Xbox Live Gold subscriptions will be increasing starting November 1, 2010.
The price increase will only be affecting customers in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, and the United States. 1 month gold subscriptions are going from $7.99 to $9.99, 3 month from $19.99 to $24.99, and 12 month from $49.99 to $59.99. There is a handy table breakdown for each country over at Major Nelson’s site. And if you take a look at the massive amount of comments on his site, it doesn’t sound like members are very happy about this change.
Are we getting more value for the money? Or is this increase paying for worthless things like ESPN and Twitter? $10 isn’t going to kill me per se, but it does fit into the industry trend of bleeding gamers dry for downloadable content and stupid little extras like avatar pets. What do you think?
